The first official event of Writers' Week 2010 today is the book launch at The Plaza of "A Type of Beauty" by Patricia O'Reilly and "The Green Crown" by Roderick Ford.I plan to go but whether I actually do hangs on how energetic, or otherwise, I feel in 40 minutes time.
Spotted myself in the queue. It was well worth the wait. The music was heavenly, Lumiere from Dingle and a trio of fabulous musicians. All the contributors were excellent but our own Cyril Kelly brought the house down with his tale of smuggled cement and unpaid debts. I love Sunday Miscellany. This one will be one of the best. Listen in on Sunday next at 9.15a.m. and prepare for a treat.
Then on Sunday afternoon, at 3.30, why not join local historian, Vincent Carmody on a tour of the town. The tour will feature the works of lesser known literary figures like D.C. Hennessey and Louis O MurchĂș. The walking tour will be enriched by the beautiful singing of local soprano, Mary Moylan.
